State Patrol investigating Thursday morning accident in Jerusalem Township

Two people were injured after a pickup truck slammed into a garbage truck early Thursday morning on State Route 2, just east of Decant Rd. in Jerusalem Township.

Miranda J. Heuberger, 20, of Toledo, was driving a pickup truck east on SR 2 when it traveled left of center and struck a garbage truck, driven by Thomas C. Sutton, 48, of Toledo.

Heuberger was extgricated by mechanical means from her vehicle and transported to Mercy St. Vincent Hospital via LifeFlight. She sustained serious injuries in the crash, but her condition is unknown.

Sutton was transported to St. Charles Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was closed for three hours as crews worked to clean up the scene of the accident.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash. It is unknown if alcohol or drug impairment played a factor in the crash at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
