Local high school cafe serving up important lessons for students

OREGON (WTVG) - If you're looking for a place to grab lunch, there's a great option at an Oregon school. The Golden Eagle Cafe officially opened at Clay High School Wednesday for the first time this year.

The students who are part of the culinary arts program there learn restaurant skills, but also important life lessons. The program gives them hands-on experience in all aspects of running a restaurant.

The cafe is open to the public Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11-1. The hope is to potentially expand those hours in the future.

All the tip money earned by the students goes to a special account they use for culinary competitions and field trips
