BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) - With the weather getting warmer, more people are hitting the roads.
May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, and the National Safety Council is spreading the word that drivers need to be more alert and share the road with bikers.
Wood County Safe Communities Coalition and Traffic Safety of Lucas County held a news conference on Wednesday to kick off the 2019 motorcycle season.
Last year there were three fatal crashes involving motorcycles in Wood County and five in Lucas County.
"NITSA has three initiatives: share the road, don't drive impaired and a new initiative where you're learning about motorcycles, how they drive and what they do," Safe Communities Coordinator Sandy Wiechman said.
The coalition's goal is for zero fatal motorcycle crashes this year.
