Man arrested in the death of a 3-month old
A Paulding county teen is in jail facing a murder charge, in connection with the death of an infant.
The Paulding County Sheriff's Office says October 20th, emergency crews responded to a call of a 3-month old baby not breathing on the 200 block of South Cleveland Street in Grover Hill.
The next day the hospital contacted authorities after suspecting it was a case of child abuse.
Zyathen Blair died at the hospital October 25th. An autopsy stated the baby suffered blunt force trauma.
After conducting interviews, police arrested Tristen Blair, 19, and charged him with the child's death.
In a press release, the sheriff says:
“This is an incredibly bad situation for the family of young Zyathen. He was a defenseless infant and there’s absolutely no excuse for this,” said Sheriff Jason K. Landers. “I give credit to my staff working this case, as well as the family that cooperated with the investigation. I cannot begin to imagine their pain.”
Blair is expected to face a judge on Monday.
Grover Hill is about an hour and a half southwest of Toledo.
