TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A man who was hit by a sandbag while riding in a car on I-75 has died.
Late Tuesday evening, police say Marquise Byrd, 22, from Warren, Michigan was hit by the sandbag while riding in a car on I-75 southbound in Toledo. The sandbag crashed through the windshield hitting Byrd. He was listed in critical condition before passing away. Byrd's death marks the 39th homicide this year in Toledo.
The four teens appeared in Lucas County juvenile court on Wednesday. All four denied the murder charge against them. They are still being held on the charges stemming from the incident.
Police say four teenagers intentionally threw the sandbag of the Indiana Avenue overpass onto I-75. According to Toledo police, the teens are now charged with murder, felony vehicular vandalism and misdemeanor vehicular vandalism.
Police publicly identified the teenagers are Sean Carter, 14 ; Williams Parker, 14 ; Pedro Salinas, 13; and Demetrius Wimberly, 14. All four were charged and locked up in the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center.
