TOLEDO (WTVG) -- An accident on the Anthony Wayne/High Level bridge went from bad to worse when a teen involved in a crash, standing on the sidewalk waiting for police, was hit by another car.
It happened at about 10:30AM Thursday in the westbound lanes of Woodville Rd./Route 51 on Toledo's East Side.
Toledo Police say the accident was near the entrance to the bridge, where two vehicles collided.
A short time later, police say a 13-year-old boy was standing outside of one of the damaged vehicles when an oncoming car swerved to avoid the accident, drove onto the sidewalk, and hit the boy.
According to police, that boy, who was inside one of the cars involved in the initial crash, likely has a broken leg, but is expected to recover.
As of 11:10AM, drivers could not cross the bridge from Toledo's East Side to downtown. Instead, traffic was being detoured by officers at the accident.
