Maumee Court records show that OVI charge against Burkett dismissed

MAUMEE, Ohio (WTVG) - According to the Maumee Court docket the OVI charge against Bill Burkett, the former Toledo commissioner of economic and business development, has been dismissed.

Sources tell 13abc a Lucas County grand jury is reviewing the case.

Authorities had said Burkett was driving the vehicle that severely injured a St. John's Jesuit student, Noah Tolson, in May.

Information was posted on his case on the Maumee Court website saying that the OVI charge was dismissed by visiting Judge David Faulkner Wednesday.

Burkett resigned from his position with the city earlier this week.
