TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Mercy Health St. Vincent will cut 24 job positions, though the hospital does not anticipate any job losses in the restructuring.
The changes include not staffing the Mobil Stroke ICU unit from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. and closing the Specialty Pain Clinic, and stop doing on-site mammography.
A statement from the hospital said, "The challenges in the Toledo market require us to be proactive in identifying ways to transform our organization while extending our healing mission."
"Mercy continues to hurt its bottom line by paying many replacement workers much higher wages than the workers who are on strike. The best way for Mercy to preserve its healing mission is to end the strike by offering equitable solutions to the problems that caused it," a UAW spokesman said.
