TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A metro park within 5 miles of every Lucas County resident has been in the works for over a decade, but Metroparks Toledo says that milestone is just around the corner.
Plans and drawings were released to the public on November 13th for a new park along Monclova road. The property is situated between Weckerly and Eber roads and will be connect to nearby Oak Openings Preserve and Secor Metro Park by a system of trails. The near 90 acre park will also feature a 5 to 6 acre pond for kayaking, fishing and water recreation.
When complete the ambitious plan is to have an 8 mile green way through western Lucas County. The park is yet to be named, but is set to open late next year. It's just one of four new parks that are planned to open within the next two years.
