Police confirm missing Toledo man found dead in Monroe

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Investigators confirm that James Lee Flunder, 67, has been found dead.

Flunder had been missing from his home since New Year's Eve and police say he had dementia.

Tuesday morning, the Monroe County sheriff's office confirmed that police had found a body near the Monroe Public School Bus Transport Center on Albain Road.

In a release, deputies say the body found was that of a person previously reported missing from Toledo.

On Sunday, deputies say they located the Flunder's vehicle near Tanager and Skylark Street in Monroe Township, Michigan.

An extensive search of the area was conducted after it was determined that the vehicle belonged to a missing person that had been reported to Toledo Police.

TPD posted the following to Facebook New Year's Day:

"Update: The vehicle of MISSING ADULT, James Flunder, has been located near Tanager and Skylark St. in Monroe, Michigan. Mr. Flunder is still missing at this time. Call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111 w/ info."

A family member of Mr. Flunder tells 13abc that a funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6th at the House of Day on Nebraska from 10:00 AM to noon. Then, a repast will take place at the Calvary Church on Collingwood at 1:00 PM. Both events are open to anyone who knew Mr. Flunder, according to his family.
