Mobis North America shut down scheduled to prepare for new Jeep pickup

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Mobis North America is set to temporarily shut down. A human resources representative with the company says the move is to allow the company to prepare for the new Jeep pickup truck.

According to a WARN notice filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the shutdown is set to begin on April 7, 2018. Production is expected to resume sometime after April 1, 2019.

The temporary shutdown will result in 572 layoffs. The employees impacted by the move range from production assemblers to managers and administrative positions.

Hourly production and maintenance employees at the facility are represented by UAW Local 12. Bumping rights withing the Toledo facility may exist for UAW Local 12 represented employees in accordance with the terms of the company's collective bargaining agreement. No bumping rights exist for salaried, management or temporary employees.
