Monroe's River Raisin could survive if new sponsors are found

MONROE, Mich. (WTVG) - St. Mary's park might not be packed in the second weekend of August, like it has for the past 18 years.

Organizers Brad Schreiber and Alexander Zonjic announced on Facebook Monday that the River Raisin Jazz Festival would not go on as planned this year.

It appears the death of founder John Patterson last year would spell the end of the festival.

The end of the Facebook message read:
"John helped make this city a Jazz destination. And made music his community and invited us all in. And we danced."

But today Schreiber said there was still a chance to festival could go on, if other sponsors would step up.
