EDEN TWP., Ohio (WTVG) -- One man is dead after a head-on motorcycle crash in Seneca County.

It happened at about 7:44 PM Friday, Oct. 18, 2019 on State Route 231 near County Road 90 in Eden Township, south of Tiffin.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports a 61-year-old man from Sycamore was driving southbound in a Chevy Trailblazer when he attempted to pass a Ford F-150 pulling a trailer. The Chevy SUV pulled into the path of an oncoming motorcycle, hitting the bike head-on.

Troopers say the motorcyclist, Charles Dyer, 48, of Bloomville, was ejected during the impact. He did not survive. Dyer was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Chevy SUV then collided with the trailer being pulled by the pick-up truck. The trailer fell onto its side, but the pick-up truck remained upright and came to a controlled stop. The SUV then struck a guardrail and overturned onto its top.

The driver of the SUV, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was air-lifted to a hospital in Toledo, treated, and released. The two people in the Ford F-150 were not hurt.
