Move out day for tenants at the Lorraine Hotel

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Tenants at the Lorraine Hotel started moving out on Thursday. A judge ordered the building to be boarded up.

Most of the tenants are low income and can't afford an apartment. Some of the residents will move over to St. Paul's Community Center where the executive director has set up 16 winter crisis beds.

The decision to close the hotel was based on a lack of funds to pay employees, make repairs and maintain the property.

Authorities will do a sweep of the building Friday morning before they board it up..
