NAIAS kicks off in Detroit

Detroit, MICHIGAN (WTVG) - The North American International Auto Show media preview has started in Detroit.

The annual show features the latest in greatest in automotive technology and design.

Automotive companies from around the world debut new vehicles and showcase what's to come in the next year.

This year, two Toledo-built vehicles will take center stage for Fiat-Chrysler.

The Gladiator, a jeep truck built at the Toledo Assembly Complex will be a highlight for Jeep enthusiasts.

Another showcase for the Jeep brand is the new Toledo-built Wrangler.

The North American car, truck and SUV were announced Monday morning. The Genesis G70, Hyundai Kona, Ram 1500 pickup won the 2019 North American car, sport utility and truck of the year awards.

13abc will be in Detroit throughout the week talking with leaders from the Big Three, including Fiat-Chrysler about the new vehicles and what effect production and sales has on the Glass City.

If you would like to attend the North American International Auto Show, it opens to the public on Saturday, January 19th.
