NAPOLEON, Ohio (WTVG) - The City of Napoleon has a new police chief, effective Friday.
Acting chief of police Lt. David Mack has accepted the position as of Sept. 1, 2017. He will fill the position left open when former chief Robert Weitzel left the department at the end of June.
Chief Mack has been a part of the Napoleon police department for more than 21 years. He is currently a police academy instructor with Northwest State Community College and has been for more than 17 years.
Chief Mack graduated from Defiance College with a Bachelor's of Art Degree in criminal justice. Mack has also been awarded the Ohio CIT Officer of the Year award, Exceptional Service award and the Meritorious Service award.
Chief Mack will be sworn in at the start of the Napoleon City Council meeting on September 5th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Napoleon City Administration Building located at 255 W. Riverview Dr. in Napoleon, Ohio. The meeting is open to the public and will also be live on the City of Napoleon’s Facebook page.
