The fire alarm sounds, students evacuate and fire crews rush to the scene.

It was a frequent scenario that caused some frustration at Bowling Green State University. That's because more than half of these scenarios were false alarms.

This summer BGSU installed a new alarm system that goes off in individual dorm rooms so that the whole dorm doesn't have to evacuate.

The system will only evacuate the entire building once two alarms detect a fire.

Bowling Green Fire Chief Tom Sanderson says fire crews have already notice a difference.
