While Toledo fights for speed cameras in court, Perrysburg Twp. holds off

PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WTVG) - Perrysburg Township police are doing away with the department's traffic camera program just months after it started.

Perrysburg Township Police have tabled their handheld traffic camera program because of changes to the state's existing law. The devices are used to catch speeders.

Lt. James Nixon says there are additional costs and restrictions to the programs.

Perrysburg township leaders decided it wasn't feasible for them to pay the additional cost.

A spokesperson for the City of Toledo said the city was granted an injunction on Friday.

TPD can continue to operate the program the way it has been while this plays out in court.
