Off-property location chosen for Washington Local board meetings

TOLEDO, Oh (WTVG) - The Washington Local school board will be holding all meetings off district property at least through March.

Friday, the district announced that the Conn-Weissenberger Post 587 on Alexis road will be where they conduct district business.

This decision comes after board members didn't vote to life the district-wide ban on new board member Patrick Hickey.

As part of a separation agreement between then Superintendent Hickey and the board, both parties agreed that he would not be allowed on district property except for events that involved his children.

But after several incidents that ban was expanded, barring him from all property.

In November, Hickey won a seat on the board and since then, other board members have been trying to come up with a solution to the ban.

During the last two public meetings, members voted down a one-time waiver of the ban to allow him on the property for meetings. Instead, they decided to move meetings off site until they could find a permanent solution.

A list of the meetings is attached to this story.
