Ohio State Trooper found guilty in gun death of 4-year-old son

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Ohio State Trooper whose son shot himself with an unsecured gun has been found guilty on charges of negligent homicide in Lucas County Common Pleas court.

Fu Sun entered an Alford plea on Tuesday. He will be sentenced on November 5th. He will remain on supervised own recognizance bond.

The boy, Evan, found his father's unsecured weapon and accidentally shot himself on Mother's Day.

After the shooting, Toledo Police say the boy's parents drove him to a nearby medical facility in Sylvania where staff members asked for an ambulance to transfer him to ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital.

The boy was pronounced dead at 12:52 p.m.
