Ohio State Trooper arraigned in gun death of 4-year-old son

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The Ohio State Trooper whose son shot himself with an unsecured gun was arraigned on child endangerment and and negligent homicide charges in Lucas County Common Pleas court.

Fu Sun was allowed a supervised release as he had no criminal background outside of the current charges beyond a few traffic violations. He will appear for a pretrial hearing on July 9th.

The boy, Evan, found his father's unsecured weapon and accidentally shot himself on Mother's Day.

After the shooting, Toledo Police say the boy's parents drove him to a nearby medical facility in Sylvania where staff members asked for an ambulance to transfer him to ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital.

The boy was pronounced dead at 12:52 p.m.
