Ohio offers back to school shopping break with tax-free weekend

Ohio (WTVG) - It's almost time to head back to school and the cost of supplies, clothing and other materials needed for class can add up quickly.

The state of Ohio passed a bill that creates a weekend free from sales tax on certain items. The tax break runs from Friday, August 4 at midnight through Sunday, August 6 at 11:59pm.

The tax-free sales are only valid on select items, including:
Clothing priced at $75 per item or less
School supplies priced at $20 per item or less
School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less.

There is no limit on the amount of the total purchase. The qualification is determined item by item.
