WILLIAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - A fire in Williams County early Friday morning claimed the life of a woman living in the home. Her fiance was able to escape with their two-year-old child.
Authorities say the flames broke out at a home on Vine Street in the Village of Edgerton around midnight. The woman was trapped inside the home. Her fiance reportedly grabbed the child and ran outside to safety, though both sustained burns and were taken to an area hospital. The child was later transported to Ann Arbor for treatment.
The state fire marshal's office was on scene around 6:00am Friday. Investigators have not yet determined a cause, though they say the fire appears to have started in the living room. They have not released the identity of the victims.
