Fishing lines, hooks and trash are left on the banks and inside the Maumee River. A local organization wants help improving our water quality by keeping it clean.

The program is called, "Get the Lead Out." It is hosted by Partners for Clean Streams.

Organizers have been trying to get people to collect lead and line that get caught during summer fishing runs. Unfortunately, some of the recent clean-up events have been unsuccessful.

Jessica Batanian with Partners for Clean Streams said, "our job in our organization is making sure we're improving water quality as best as we can and getting the community involved in that too."

Organizers are looking for people to help with the next clean-up day on August 25th from 6-8 pm at Sidecut Metropark.
