Overseas cable manufacturing company sets up first North American facility in Bowling Green
An overseas cable manufacturing company is setting up its very first North American facility in northwest Ohio.
Mineral Insulated Cable Company, or MICC, is based in the United Kingdom. MICC is one of the world leaders in the manufacturing of insulated cables and is spreading its roots to Bowling Green.
"MICC manufactures mineral insulated cable that is used in temperature measurements, industrial heat tracing and life safety," explains general manager, Scott Warner.
Warner said the company moved to Bowling Green a month ago, setting up shop in a building on Van Camp Road that sat empty for three years.
"It's very, very valuable place to be with transportation and also with the resources we have here," said Warner.
The company plans to invest $1.5million in machinery at the new facility. The move will also create 33 new manufacturing jobs over the next five years.
"It's really nice to bring in a company that has manufacturing jobs," said Warner. "We have seen a lot leave in the past, so it's very exciting for all of us to have a new manufacture come from overseas and want to be right her in Bowling Green."
Warner, a graduate of Bowling Green State University, said it is the location and lower cost of business that attracted MICC to the area.
MICC is expected to be up and running by the fall. They plan to start the hiring process in two months. For more information on applying for a job, visit their website: micccorp.com
