PERRYSBURG (WTVG) - Five people have been apprehended after an undercover sting operation in Perrysburg on Friday turned into a manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
A suspect is in custody after leading Perrysburg Police on a chase Friday afternoon.
The sting involved undercover police purchasing a stolen vehicle. The suspects fled, leading to Perrysburg schools putting Toth and Woodland elementary schools and Perrysburg Junior High on lockdown.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Demetrius Peguese, 18, of Detroit, was conspiring with four additional suspects to sell a stolen 2017 Dodge Challenger.
While attempting to arrest him, Peguese fled authorities, though he was being tracked by an OSHP airplane. He eventually lost control and crashed into a tree on Plum near Sandusky Street, then took off on foot. OSHP's canine unit located the suspect on Willow Street, where he was arrested without incident around 2 p.m.
Peguese is charged with failure to comply and receiving stolen property. He is currently incarcerated at Wood County Justice Center.
The investigation is ongoing for the four other suspects.
