OREGON, Ohio (WTVG) - Two Toledo men have been charged in federal court after allegedly stealing dozens of guns from Towers Armory in Oregon back in November.
According to the US Attorney's office, Emmanuel Riley and Sevario Whitaker were charged with theft from a federal firearms licensee and possession of a stolen firearm.
Oregon Police told 13abc just last week that the suspects stole a total of 46 firearms, including long guns, and six suppressor, commonly known as silencers. They were concerned the suspects would attempt to sell the firearms on the street. Only three of the 46 firearms have so far been recovered.
According to an affidavit from the case, police obtained video surveillance from the store, which showed two men committing the robbery at approximately 3:24 AM after gaining access through the ventilation system on the roof. They reportedly re-entered the store several times to remove all of the guns.
Investigators were able to obtain additional surveillance footage from a nearby business that showed the men getting into a Toyota Camry and driving away. A Toledo police detective reportedly recognized the vehicle as one used by Riley and officials were able to track down the suspects.
