Port Clinton declares State of Emergency over high-water levels

PORT CLINTON, Ohio (WTVG) - Port Clinton is in a state of emergency, after mayor Mike Snider made the declaration Thursday as the city tries to mitigate damage from high Lake Erie waters.

The city beach is closed, with orange fencing, barricades and signs being installed.

The city says the high-water levels have caused erosion and shorelinen flooding, which creates a financial burden for the city and Ottawa County, which is also declaring a state of emergency.
