Restaurant Report Card: 2.7.19 Rose Thai

By  |

TOLEDO (WTVG) -- If you work in a restaurant and you use single-use gloves, the name says it all: You can only use them once.

If you try to use them twice, it's a violation.

A sanitarian saw it happen at Rose Thai, 5333 Monroe Street 6, Toledo. During a Standard Inspection 25-Jan-2019, the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department noted 15 violations (5 critical & 10 non-critical). Among those:

X Single use gloves being reused.
X Back build-up inside the ice machine.
X Rady-to-eat foods in the walk-in and prep coolers were not date marked.

In response to that last violation, a manager for Rose Thai told 13abc over the phone:
"We tried to fix all the violations that we have.... Everything's just made fresh. I wasn't marking it before, but (I'm) marking it now ... "

As for those single-use gloves, he explained:
"(The sanitarian) said the way that I have to prep the food, because of the way the food needs to be cooked after, the gloves don't need to be used on that one."

Rose Thai is now waiting for a follow-up inspection to bring that number of violations down.
