Back to school means running like clockwork, and a new assembly line is meant to speed that clock along.

"That machine can handle 40 or 50 different packages now that we can run. It is all computers now. So, it's pretty awesome," explains Reynald Debroas, Director of Food Service and Child Nutrition at Toledo Public Schools.

Debroas says the one machine cost taxpayers more than $100,000, but it's the first new assembly line he has purchased for the district since he first started working here more than 20 years ago.

For the past few weeks, the assembly line has already been up and running inside the hub for T.P.S. Food Services. This one building is where all the meals are packaged before they get sent out to 52 schools across the district. School cafeteria workers reheat or steam food that's been precooked. Then, they serve it to your kids.

"We have to be three weeks ahead. If we don't make that three weeks ahead, we're not going to make it. You know, it's a lot of production," says Debroas.
