TOLEDO (WTVG) -- We start this week at one local restaurant that had 10 violations.
Managers say they've made major changes behind-the-scenes to make sure what they're doing differently helps your food.
That restaurant is Eat At Oasis Pizza and Grill on Dorr and Secor. Out of those 10 Violations, there were 6 Critical:
X Food items inside prep top cooler above 41F.
X Manager moved from one working station to another without washing hands.
X Manager did not have a food thermometer.
The new manager at Oasis says that inspection took place on his first day.
Since then, David Sprowles has overseen some major changes in staff and equipment, including the replacement of that prep top cooler.
"I had this one unit taken out and then a new unit put in while he was still sitting here. So, you know, we took our inspection seriously," explains Sprowles.
Those at Eat At Oasis Pizza and Grill say every violation is now corrected.
Next, Grape Leaf Diner in Holland on McCord Rd. It also had 10 Violations, 5 of which were considered Critical:
X Raw chicken stored above raw beef.
X Raw beef thawing at room temperature.
X Chemicals stored above salad oil.
In response, manager Deeko Zahran at Grape Leaf Diner told 13abc over the phone, "We scheduled another inspection and we called (the sanitarian) in. She came the second day. She reinspected everything ... Now we're violation-free."
Finally, Yum Yum Chinese Restaurant next to the Meijer off Central in Sylvania Township.
During the Last Standard Health Inspection, Yum Yum Chinese Restaurant had 11 Violations, including 5 Critical:
X Rice sitting in warmer at 58F before the warmer was turned on.
X Back hand washing sink used to store and clean dishes.
X Shrimp being thawed in 3 bay with dirty dishes.
13abc got a text from Yum Yum stating the health department is set to conduct a Follow-Up inspection. Those with the restaurant said, "We will figure it out ... and fix all the problems."
