TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Police are responding to multiple accidents because of hazardous weather.
Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol tell 13abc that one person was killed in an accident along northbound SR 64 near the US 24 exit ramp.
Officers say that two cars collided head-on and one of the drivers was killed. Another driver suffered minor injuries. Police have not released the names of the victims.
Dispatchers say that there are many other crashes around the area right now, with the majority of them involving cars into ditches and medians. All roads have been opened, though.
Dispatchers with the Lucas County Sheriff's office are reporting several accidents on U.S. 24 near Waterville. Wood County dispatchers tell 13abc that there are crashes "all over I-75" through the county.
Oregon Police are on scene of a car fire that has all but one lane closed on southbound I-280 near Navarre Avenue.
Dispatchers with the Ohio Turnpike tell 13abc that "multiple crashes and closures" are happening right now, especially near Fremont. That's where viewers report multiple crashes, including one involving up to 7 vehicles, and another involving a flipped semi.
Multiple counties are under snow emergencies. Lucas and Sandusky Counties are under a Level One. Drivers are urged to use caution on the roadways, as they are slick with snow and ice.
Toledo police are operating on a Phase 2, responding only to injury accidents or crashes that are blocking roadways as of 3:00 PM.
