BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (WTVG) - The Community Tree Lighting Ceremony and the Holiday Parade are both happening this weekend in downtown Bowling Green, prompting some road closures.
The Community Tree Lighting Ceremony is happening November 17th in front of the Wood County Public Library at 7:00 PM. The ceremony will have W Court Street closed between Main Street and City Parking Lot 4 starting at 6:00 PM. Access to parking lots will be maintained, although on-street parking will not be available on Main Street between Oak and Court Streets or on Oak.
Then, on November 18th, the Holiday Parade steps off at 10:00 AM. The road closure starts at 9:45 AM on Main Street between Poe and Napoleon Roads, and will last through the end of the parade. That closure will also impact traffic flow on side streets that intersect Main Street between Poe and Napoleon. Also, side streets between Poe and Ridge will be closed between 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM for parade preparations. Only local traffic will have access.
City officials say that the parade will start on Main Street near Poe, travel south, and end near Napoleon on Main Street.
During the parade, the city will have signs posted for a detour for truck traffic.
On-street parking on Main Street between Poe and Napoleon will be prohibited, starting at 3:00 AM Saturday. After that time, through the end of the parade, the city says that vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense. Other locations where on-street parking is prohibited include:
- Dixie Avenue: South Main to Kenwood
- South Church Street: Sand Ridge to Pearl
- Clay Street: North Church to North Grove
- North Grove: Wooster to Poe
Once the parade has ended and cleanup is finished, all on-street parking will be reinstated and roads will reopen.
