TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – ***SEVERE THREAT HAS NOW ENDED***
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Lucas County, and all counties south and east, until 10pm.
Rain showers moved through this morning, and the battle between sunshine and clouds ultimately helped to reduce severe potential.
Despite a relative lack of heat and instability, wind shear played a major role -- and will continue to do so for the next few hours. That means the strongest storms could use that wind shear to produce damaging wind gusts. There is also a chance for an isolated tornado, this same system having dropped a few tornadoes in Indiana and Kentucky. While the strongest storms could produce small hail, the risk for large hail is low currently. The flooding threat is also low. About a half inch of rain is expected on average for today.
