SAN FRANCISCO (13abc Action News) - Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said during her campaign that she was going to, "fix the damn roads."
That solution can't come soon enough according to a new study.
A west coast company just announced that Michigan has the worst roads in the United States.
What's interesting is that the company releasing the study makes high-definition maps for self-driving cars.
The buckeye state's not doing much better.
Ohio was ranked 4th worst with only Indiana and Iowa ahead of it.
The company, lvl5 captured and analyzed five million miles of driving on U.S. roads.
What state has the best roads?
Lvl5 says it's Florida.
So how did they come to this conclusion?
Lvl5 captured hundreds of thousands of miles of video data every month through their iPhone dashcam app, Payver.
According to the news release, the app pays users up to $0.05 per mile to record their driving using their cell phone.
They say they're already working with many Uber and Lyft drivers across the U.S. who run the dashcam app throughout the day.
According to the report, they ranked roads based on road paint fading, pavement cracking, potholes, and surface flatness.
