Suspicious vehicle call leads to chase into NASA compound

A 51-year-old Strasburg, Ohio man is arrested Thursday after a pursuit that ended at a NASA facility.

Deputies with the Erie County Sheriff's Office received a call of a suspicious vehicle at a nearby business. Terry H. Gritzan was allegedly sleeping in his parked truck with the engine running at the Sandusky Animal Clinic.

When a deputy made contact with the vehicle, Gritzan raced away.

Ohio State Highway Patrol joined deputies in the pursuit, which eventually led to the driver crashing through a vehicle barrier at the entrance of the NASA Plum Brook Station south of Sandusky.

The crash shredded the tires of the suspect's vehicle, so he fled on foot. An FBI agent found the suspect hiding in a culvert and arrested him.

He’s facing felony fleeing and eluding charges.

The NASA complex was on lockdown for nearly three hours because of the incident.
