This is a story that might make you believe in fate. An amazing reunion, several years in the making. A Toledo man's best friend is back home with him, and it's all thanks to social media and a local rescue group.

There were a few stops along the way, but four years after first being adopted by Nick Pizio, Lucy is back with him.

Lucy is right at home with Nick, his fiancee Shannon McCann and their dog Kuma. Nick and Lucy were reunited in late October, three years after being separated, and how that came to be is quite a story.

Nick and his wife at the time adopted Lucy from Planned Pethood in 2015. When the two divorced about a year later, Lucy went with Nick's ex-wife.

Fast forward to this year. Nick's ex-wife returned Lucy to Planned Pethood in July. Planned Pethood leaders say that is exactly what they ask people to do no matter what the circumstances.

After Lucy was returned to Planned Pethood, she was adopted in September. However, she was returned again.

So just how did Nick and Shannon find Lucy? They weren't looking for a second dog, but Nick was scrolling through Facebook and saw Lucy on the Planned Pethood page. He quickly alerted Shannon, and they adopted her last month.

In addition to her humans, Lucy also enjoys her new dog brother Kuma.
