Toledo 6th Grader Heads To Jr. Olympics

Just over a year ago Tonielle Barton was looking for something that her 11-year old son Jacob could do in the off season from Football. She found a spot for him on Toledo Elite Track Club. "He really didn't have form yet. He really didn't know what he was doing, but this year is a total opposite," says Tonielle.

This year Jacob has been racking up Gold Medals in the 200, 400 and 800. His times at 27 seconds, 58 seconds and 2:26 for the 800. The soft spoken and Jacob is very humble about his trip to the Jr. Olympics. "It feels Good. I practiced hard and hope if pays off," he says.

It's a very expensive trip for the single mother of four kids so friends and family have set up a Go-Fund-Me account to raise the money to pay for Jacob and his Mom to go. She says it's worth it for what may end up being the first of many trips like this. "He might medal, he has a chance of getting a medal!"
