TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Toledo Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating an additional suspect in the shooting death of 3-year-old Malachi Barnes.
According to police, murder charges were filed on January 23, 2019 against Andre James White, age 20 of Detroit, Michigan, and K’veon Carnell Giles, age 18 of Toledo, Ohio. Police say White is currently in custody in Michigan on separate murder charges.
Now Toledo Police, along with the US Marshals Service and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are looking for assistance in locating Giles.
Giles is described as a Black male, 5'9" tall, 119 lbs, with brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. Tips resulting in the arrest of Giles may be eligible for a cash reward.
According to police, on November 22, 2018, Anthony Barnes was driving northbound on I-75 near Collingwood with his three young children in the vehicle when another vehicle pulled up next to them. Multiple shots were fired at the car and 3-year-old Malachi Barnes was struck. Malachi later died at Mercy St. Vincent’s Hospital.
In December of last year, police took a 17-year-old suspect into custody and on charges of Complicity to Commit Murder.
