The Toledo Police Department could be getting into the ice cream business.

As part of their effort to engage with the community, the department is looking at getting a custom ice cream truck to build relationships with Toledo citizens.

The charitable foundations of the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye have donated $22,000 to the Toledo Police Foundation for the truck.

The City Council will need to approve the donation first, and a contest is already underway pick the name for the new ice cream truck.

Chief George Kral says it will likely hit the streets in May... and the ice cream will be free.
