TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Some good news for Toledo-based company Owens Corning Wednesday morning. The company earned the top ranking on Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens list, up from its third place ranking last year.
The list recognizes companies for their commitment to sustainability as well as their transparency in reporting their own business practices. Among the factors considered are climate change, employee relations, environment, finance, governance, human rights, and stakeholders and society.
“It is an honor to earn the No. 1 ranking on this year’s 100 Best Corporate Citizens list,” said Owens Corning Chief Executive Officer Brian Chambers. “Our team is committed to living our purpose, that our people and our products make the world a better place.”
Ava Harter, Owens Corning general counsel, added: “We are pleased to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to transparency and high standards as we strive to make a positive difference in the world. This list puts us in great company. We know this recognition doesn’t mark a destination reached, but rather that we are making tangible progress on this journey.”
The honor follows their second year named as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute back in February.
