The Lucas County coroner's office has identified a man found dead in Swan Creek Sunday evening as Thomas Damron, 28. The coroner's office says Damron's cause of death is still pending.

Someone on a kayak discovered the body in the creek near the intersection on Hamilton and Ewing streets.

From about 20 feet above Swan Creek, Toledo firefighters pulled Damron's body from the water Sunday evening. People living on Hamilton watched it all unfold right in front of them.

"It's very scary especially very close to where I live. I don't know what's going on," said Conatta Hilliard, who lives near where the body was found.

Police say a man kayaking in Swan Creek spotted the body and called police. It's not known if the man died there or if his body ended up there.

"I'm scared because when I'm here alone during the day I keep my screen door locked and I'm asking who it is before I let them in," said Hilliard.

Hilliard says she doesn't normally have problems in this area and this discovery is quite a surprise.

"Everybody stays to themselves. We see one another, speak and that's it," said Hilliard.
