Troopers find nearly $7,000 worth of heroin during traffic stop

WOOD COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) stopped a driver for speeding on the Turnpike in Wood County last Wednesday.

According to authorities, troopers observed "criminal indicators" and requested to search the vehicle. The driver, Angel Garay, 57, agreed.

Upon searching the 2003 Mazda 6, troopers found a WD40 can with a false bottom. Inside, the troopers found 45 grams of heroin, which OSHP says is worth about $6,750.

The driver, Angel Garay, 57, and passenger Larry Sanders, 61, both from Chicago, Ill., were charged with possession and trafficking in heroin, both second-degree felonies. Both were incarcerated in the Wood County Jail
