A fire destroyed one home and damaged another on the 200 block of Kingsberry Drive.

Blissfield’s fire chief believes the blaze began inside the garage and spread to the neighboring home. Both homes were occupied and thankfully no one was injured.

The fire was reported just after 7:45pm Saturday.

When fire crews arrived on scene the home was fully involved and the side of the adjacent home was also on fire. Two bedrooms at that second home suffered smoke and heat damage.

Fire officials say a child at that first home that caught fire was the first to notice something was wrong.

"The one that started on fire their little boy was out in the garage and told his dad that he heard crackling in the garage and when he went out it was already in the attic and running down the roof,” said Blissfield Fire Chief, Gary Crist. “Yes I believe it was electrical it was over his workshop or workbench light."

Three other fire departments assisted Blissfield in what was a mutual aid response.

The family who lost their home are staying with friends and family this weekend.
