TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A major road closure is in place in downtown Toledo for an electrical problem in a manhole.
Southbound Summit Street is closed near the intersection of Summit and Jefferson.
Toledo Fire officials tell 13abc on scene that Toledo Edison crews noticed smoke coming from a manhole just before 11:00 AM. Edison crews are investigating a bundle of wires that feed businesses in the area. It's believed that one of the wires is smoldering.
Officials also say that water is being pumped out of the manhole involved. It appears at this time that no businesses are being affected by the wire issue.
One lane northbound on Summit is open. Jefferson is also open to traffic.
Drivers should avoid the area by using Monroe, Erie and Adams Streets.
