Fishermen rescued after boat capsizes on Lake Erie

Ottawa County, OHIO (WTVG) - UPDATE:

A group of fisherman are safe after their boat sank in Lake Erie.

According to the U.S. Coast guard, 3 fishermen were out on the lake when the bilge pump on their boat stopped working.

The men were trying to head back to shore when a wave capsized the boat. All 3 men were rescued from the water.

The Coast Guard says it's still not clear on the exact location where the boat went under.

Rescuers were staging at Anchor Pointe gas dock in Ottawa County.

Firefighters, sheriff's deputies and the U.S. Coast Guard are responding to calls of a boat sinking in the lake near the Ottawa/Lucas county line.

At this point, the Ottawa County Sheriff's office tells 13abc there was a call for a water rescue on Lake Erie after reports of a boat sinking.

It's unclear how many people were on board or if they have been rescued.

Multiple fire departments and the U.S. Coast Guard are responding.
