According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, a 52-year-old woman from Erie, MI has died in a crash Friday night.
Deputies say Jill Trowbridge was driving south on Summit Street in Erie Township when her car ran off the road for unknown reasons, then re-entered the road and ran off the road crashing into North Maumee Bay.
Deputies say the vehicle came to rest upside down and partially submerged in water.
A member of the Morin Point Fire Department was able to free the woman from her car and brought her to the shore, according to a release from the Sheriff's office.
Deputies with the sheriff's office say the woman was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center where she later died.
Deputies say she was not wearing a seat belt and speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-240-7711.
