Woman starts Ohio violent offender registry petition
One woman wants to create a state law to protect potential victims against violent attacks by re-offenders.
Paula Walters started an online petition that has been circulating on social media. It's called "Support the Start of a Violent Offender Registry in Ohio."
The petition on Chan.org began weeks ago, but has gained momentum since the death of Sierah Joughin.
Joughin went missing in Fulton County while riding her bike. Authorities believe they have found the body of the missing 20-year-old. The man charged with abduction and aggravated murder, James Dean Worley, was also charged with abduction in 1990.
If this petition becomes law, any violent offender described in the Ohio revised code would be on a registry said Walters.
