The Toledo women's golf program has finalized its 2019-20 women's golf schedule, Head Coach Jenny Coluccio announced today. The Rockets will participate in 11 tournaments in total, highlighted by the first-ever Glass City Invitational at the Inverness Club on Sept. 16-17.
"Our schedule is a great mixture of events, starting with one of our most challenging events of the year here in our own backyard," Coluccio said. "We feel it is a very well-rounded schedule with great challenges and different types of courses, along with presenting us opportunities for success."
The Glass City Invitational field includes four schools - Florida, Illinois, Northwestern and Virginia - that advanced to the 2019 NCAA Championships and five more - Baylor, Furman, Michigan State, Ohio State and Texas A&M - that qualified for last year's NCAA Regionals. In addition, seven participating teams were ranked in the top 30 of Golfstat's final rankings. Also joining the Rockets in the event are Coastal Carolina, Michigan, South Florida and Wisconsin.
"We are very fortunate and indebted to the membership at Inverness," Coluccio said. "The opportunity to host one of the top fields in the country for the first college or professional women's tournament at the historic Inverness Club is amazing. This event and relationship with Inverness will have a major lasting impact on our program."
Toledo will compete in four tournaments in the fall followed by six more in the spring prior to the 2020 Mid-American Conference Championships on April 24-26 in Stow, Ohio.
Following the season-opening tournament at Inverness, the Rockets will travel to Greenville, S.C. for Furman's Lady Paladin Invitational on Sept. 27-29. The Paladins were a Top 25 team last year and have qualified for the NCAA Regionals each of the last five years. Toledo will remain in the Midwest for the remainder of the fall when it competes in the MAC Preview in Stow, Ohio on Oct. 7-8 and the Chippewa Invitational in Birmingham, Mich. on Oct. 21-22
Toledo will visit the Sunshine State for its initial two spring tournaments at South Florida's Old Friends Invitational on Feb. 17-18 and the Florida State Match Up on Feb. 29-March 1. The Rockets will head west for their spring break when they compete in South Dakota State's Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder City, Nev. on March 9-10. The Midnight Blue and Gold will close out March at the Bama Beach Bash on March 20-22 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Toledo will remain in the Buckeye State in April for its final tuneups prior to the MAC Championships. The Rockets will make the short trip down I-75 for the Bowling Green's Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on April 4-5 before heading to Columbus, Ohio two weeks later for Ohio State's Lady Buckeye Invitational on April 18-19.
