The Lourdes women’s bowling team finished in fifth place in a field of 16 schools on Saturday at the BGSU Falcon Classic held at Interstate Lanes in Rossford, Ohio.
The Gray Wolves posted a 6,821 total pin fall, 123 pins behind tournament host and fourth place Bowling Green while finishing more than 130 pins ahead of sixth place Concordia (Mich.). Wright State won the event with a score of 7,258, 58 pins ahead of runner-up Calumet.
“The ladies finally found their groove and had their best consistent high-scoring pace of the season,” head coach Torrie Bartalone said afterwards. “As the top finishing WHAC team in the event, it gives us the right amount of confidence to prepare for out next event, which is another league jamboree.”
Bryana Twining (Lima, Ohio/Bath H.S.) finished ninth individually, posting a five-game series of 1,009. She rolled three 200-games, including a season’s best score of 220 to open the day. Alyssa McCall (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) added a 895 series while Jordyn Stewart (Elida, Ohio/Elida H.S.) averaged 205.25 over the final four games.
The Gray Wolves finished traditional play with a 978 final game, the team’s best of the year. For the day, Lourdes averaged 933.
In Baker action, Lourdes rolled a 783 set to begin the format, including games of 222 and 221. Overall the Gray Wolves averaged 180.5 in the format over the three sets of four games.
Lourdes will return to action next Saturday, competing in the third Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree of the season. Action begins at 8 a.m. at Westgate Bowl in Comstock Park, Mich.
