Lourdes earned a top-half finish at the second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference jamboree of the season on Saturday, as the Gray Wolves placed sixth at Wayne Bowl in Wayne, Mich.
The Gray Wolves posted a pin fall of 6,114 for the day, trailing fifth place Concordia (Mich.) by less than 100 pins while finishing nearly 100 pins in front of seventh place Cornerstone. Indiana Tech won the jamboree with a total of 6,560, one pin in front of runner-up Aquinas.
“After a rough start in the first WHAC jamboree, today was a day the team was hungry for,” head coach Torrie Bartalone said afterwards. “Alyssa McCall (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton H.S.) and Jordyn Stewart (Elida, Ohio/Elida H.S.) rallied the ladies’ attention and emotions in the right direction. Today was a day of growth, confidence, and coming together as one functioning team unit.”
McCall led the Gray Wolves in the four traditional games, posting a 709 series while Jenna Beatty (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney H.S.) came on following the first game and averaged 179.7 over the final three games. McCall’s 223 in the third game led Lourdes to a 921 team total, the Gray Wolves’ best of the day.
A 724 Baker set in the third of four stanzas paced the Gray Wolves in the second portion of the day. The team rolled a high game of 202 to close out the second set, setting the team up for a strong third.
Lourdes will return to the lanes next Saturday, taking part in the BGSU Falcon Classic. Action begins at 9 a.m. at Interstate Lanes in Rossford, Ohio.
